Celestial Eye
The Sky Disc was reportedly found on top of Mittelberg hill, roughly 3.5 km from the visitors' centre. The exact location is marked by the "Celestial Eye". The convex disc of polished stainless steel reflects the firmament and links the heavens and earth on the very site where an image of the sky was buried in the ground for 3600 years.
After securing the Nebra Sky Disc in 2003, the State Office for the Conservation of Historic Monuments and Archaeology conducted extensive excavations on the Mittelberg plateau. By applying various scientific methods, researchers were able to confirm the exact location of the find.
