The entire building is accessible for wheelchair users (entry via a ramp at the main entrance, lift, toilets).
However, coming by car is recommended, as both the shuttle bus stops and the bus itself are not wheelchair-accessible. After notifying staff, those with impaired mobility can drive right up to the door and park directly in front of the visitors' centre.
For visitors with visual impairments audio guides are available (only in German language). Please ask the staff at the pay desk. As yet, no special facilities are available for those with hearing impairments.
Access to the look-out on Mittelberg hill is not possible by car due to nature conservation laws. The shuttle bus stops roughly 300 metres below the Mittelberg plateau; from there it is a short uphill walk. 176 steps lead up to the top of the 30-metre-high observation tower. Nature conservation laws prohibit the installation of a lift. A webcam feed of the panorama from the tower is screened in the foyer of the visitors' centre; the monitor is located above the entrance.
Please note that there are no toilets on top of Mittelberg hill.
